Mr. Garyに聞いてみました。＜2011年3月11日東日本大震災のときのこと＞

Hello, everyone.

How has your weekend been?

先日お届けしたMr. Garyへのインタビュー(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_J66YmtN9AM)が　大変好評でした。

見てくださった方々　ありがとうございました！

今回は　＜2011年3月11日東日本大震災のときのこと＞を話題に　Mr. Garyの体験がどんな感じだったのかを　聞いてみました。  

あの日のことを　思い出すと　いろいろな思いになりますね。

大事な方を失われた方、大事なものをなくした方・・・・みなさん　それぞれのストーリーがおありだと思います。

Mr. Garyの話を　是非　聞いてみてくださいね。

地震に慣れていないアメリカ人のMr. Garyが　あんな大きな地震を体験して　怖かったんだと思います。

普段　リアルな英語を聞く機会がない方も　たまには　こんな感じで　耳に英語を入れてみましょう～

こちらが　私たちの会話でした。

【今回の会話】

Ai: Hello.

Mr. Gary: Hello. How are you?

Ai: Good. How are you?

Mr. Gary: I'm fine.

Ai: OK.  I have a question.

Mr. Gary: Ok.

Ai: 2011, March 11.... There was a big earthquake. 

    Could you tell me what you remember?

Mr. Gary: Yes... Ammm... I just washed dishes and sat down to watch TV, and I heard a loud noise.

               And, the house started shaking... very very strong.... 

              And, I remember being very very scared... 

              and waiting for my family to meet, 

              and our neighborhood helping each other out....

             and, it was just a terrible time...

Ai: Amm.... Were you.... Where were you?

     Were you in Sendai?

Mr. Gary:Yes, I was in Sendai in 2011. 

Ai: Ok. What did you do that night?

Mr. Gary: That night, we stayed in a gymnasium... like a shelter... gymnasium...

Ai: Ok. Did you have power, food..??

Mr. Gary: Well... we somehow... the food we had in the refrigerator, we took with us to the gymnasium... but there was no power without generator 

Ai: OK. How.... were you scared?

Mr. Gary: Yes... more scared than I had ever been in my life... yes... 

Ai: Did you think that people were helpful around you?

Mr. Gary: In Sendai, people were very helpful. Yes, I was grateful for that time, to happen to be in Sendai with good people. 

Ai; Ok. March 11th is coming up. Its been.... how many years?

Mr. Gary: Its.. about 6, 7 years...

Ai: Its 7 years. I hope nothing like that happens again.

Mr. Gary: Me neither... All other earthquakes we have are very small, compared to the big one.

Ai: Yes. Ok. Thank you very much.

Mr. Gary: Oh thank you.
